Some might call it babymoon

Some might call it babymoon, I will not.  I think that's kind of lame and makes it sound like your life is over.  So I'll say I tagged along with Husband to LA and we stayed a few extra days. It was my first time there and I can now say, I get it.  I get the draw of the weather and natural beauty. Here are some of my favorite pics from my phone.

We stayed at the W in Westwood, so it was near UCLA and kind of residential.  It also had a great view of the Hollywood sign!

Sunset at the Santa Monica Pier
 The Pier
Sunset the Getty Museum.  A dear friend told me the Getty was a must-see and I agree.  It is architecturally beautiful; it has stunning almost 360 - degree views and the artwork in amazing.

 Part of the museum.
Malibu, or 'the Bu' as some people may or may not call it.  We drove all the way to central Malibu, and I have the say, that shit is FAR.  Famous people who live there and go into the city a lot have a lovely scenic drive, but seriously, it's far.

More insights of LA later!

Full Disclosure 3

So I am rounding out the second trimester and feeling pretty good.  Gained 10 lbs in one month, but other than that I feel good. Here is what's been going on.
  • I saw my Mom when I was 26 weeks and she said, "Yea, I was about your size when I had you."  I was born after my due date.  So, what you're saying is, I'm gonna be huge?
  • I'm becoming a little obsessed with the cuteness that comes with baby girl clothes.
I mean, how much cuter can this be??!!
  • On the down-side, my immune system is WAY low and I've been really sick.
  • I'm looking forward to the baby shower my friends will be throwing me in Nashville!!  More cuteness!
  • Baby Brain - It's for real y'all. I find myself doing the stupidest things and forgetting a lot.  I took the Husband's car in to get serviced.  When they notified me that it was ready, I got my stuff together, went out to the car area and waited, and waited, and waited.  I saw a white car that might be his, but the back looked different, so I waited some more.  After about 15 minutes a serviceman came up to ask if I needed help. I handed him my ticket; he looked at the computer screen, looked at the white car that had been sitting for a while, looked at me, looked back at the screen again, and said, 'ma'am, that is your car.' Like an idiot I responded with, 'Oh ok, thanks. They all look the same to me, all I know is mine is white.'

Blast from the Past

I had a wonderful weekend in New Jersey.  We had a Saturday full of  family, amazing Italian food, and every type of cookie and pastry you can think of.  I believe the words, "holy cannoli' were said, no joke, the pastries from Brooklyn were so good.
The best part about going there is nothing ever changes.  The decor is literally stuck in a time warp.  I love it.  Here is a pic of the guest room to illustrate this.
The blanket was my Mom's at college her freshman year.  I like how the Noel pillow was added as flare for the season. ;)
I also got to go through a bunch of very old photos I had never seen before with my mom.
My Grandma as a baby circa 1919.
I don't want to brag, but my Grandpa was the cat's pajamas if you ask me.
Their wedding picture from 1940. Beautiful!

Just Faux Fun Friday

Hey, it's Friday.  I'm still transitioning out of my job, but that just means this needs to be a better Faux Fun. And so, with that in mind, I link you to one of THE FUNNIEST websites I've seen.  Animals being dicks, check it out, you will thank me later.  This is one of my favorites, I found the extended version on You Tube.
I'm taking the train to Jersey today to spend some time with my family. I hope to have some pictures to show, as my Grandma's house is stuck in a time warp. Remember these finds?  I'll be on the look out for more!

Literacy in America

Let's talk about literacy in America. A few weeks ago, while filling up my car and spending entirely too much on gas, I noticed this.
Can you see it?  It says, "Out of mid Great,"  even though mid-grade is written just above the pump. Seriously!?  This really worries me. Thoughts?

The one where I'm six months pregnant.. and get laid off.

This pretty much sums up what happened.
Less than 1 month after being acquired by a larger company, everyone except the sales team and sales support was laid off. It was quite a week after this surprising, yet not completely unexpected event occurred.  Good news?  Only one person had to be escorted from the building.  So here I am, 6 months pregnant, my husband is still in Australia, and I am out of a job.  No one is going to hire me knowing I will take maternity leave soon, so I am out until after little Beiber arrives.  Ironically, while we were discussing corporate holiday cards at work a few weeks ago, one of the graphic designers (who is amazingly hilarious and has promised to do a guest post) came up with this:
We decided to go in another direction, but now it kind of seems appropriate.

On the bright side, I am looking forward to an extended stay at home in Nashville this holiday and will be traveling with my husband on a few of his business trips until I can't fly anymore, then it's all about nesting.
