It's just another Friday here in lovely, chilly Alexandria, VA.  Last night we were talking about the movie The Birdcage. Have you ever seen it?  In the dinner scene, the china is pictures of men having sex and the guest says, "what is one these plate? It looks like boys playing leapfrog."  It got me thinking about what you might be able to get away with when having guests.  Here's what I suggest.

Make pasta, buy a box of these:

Josh, Vivian and I are enjoying Labor Day weekend in Nashville. Actually, Vivian and I have been here since last Friday. Tonight is a big night, Josh and I are going out to dinner and staying at a hotel downtown, CELEBRATING MY BIG 3-0! It will be our first  night away from Vivian.  We thought a dry run, being only 15 minutes away would be a good start.

I've never watched webisodes before, that is until this week when I saw, Burning Love, a web series featuring Jennifer Anniston, Malin Akerman, Ben Stiller, and one of my favorites Kristen Bell.  I encourage you to watch these short webisodes and prepare to laugh your ass off!

It's been a while since I've posted one of these! So here we go. My mom called me a few weeks ago and said, "You know that 'Opps I crapped my pants' brownie recipe you have?"  I said, "What?"
She claims that's what I used to call my Weight Watchers Fiber brownie recipe (which happens to be 2 points if you're into weight watchers).  I don't remember calling it that, so I was cracking up at my mom calling it Oops I crapped my pants brownies.  Nowadays I call them Fiber Brownies, because I'm a grown-up. ;)  So for Just Faux Fun Friday, I present you with Oops I Crapped My Pants, one of the funniest SNL commercials! Hey, it's Friday.  I'm still transitioning out of my job, but that just means this needs to be a better Faux Fun. I'm taking the train to Jersey today to spend some time with my family. I hope to have some pictures to show, as my Grandma's house is stuck in a time warp. Remember these finds?  I'll be on the look out for more!

Hey All!  Happy Friday!  I am currently in Seaside, FL with my family enjoying the beach, the sun, and those all important family photo shoots.  I suggested we wear airbrushed t-shirts, my Mom overruled, demanding denim and white. At18 weeks pregnant, I'll look fat either way. I just wanted to get a great Holiday Card in an airbrushed t-shirt that said "Knocked-up."

As I've mentioned before I LOVE animals.  I am on my second year of the CuteOverload  daily calendar so my office space has become a mecca to adorable pets... it's a little sad.  Well, I found this awesome post on 20 Ridiculous Cat Names.

Admiral Snuggles is now posted on my whiteboard, watching my every move and constantly judging.

I secretly posted Butt Nugget on the back of a co-workers door.  When the CEO came in for an important chat and closed the door, that's when he saw it.  Thankfully, the CEO didn't.

Just faux fun, check out this video and transport yourself back to 1987, an era of perms, leg-warmers, and Jane Fonda-type aerobics. I have easily watched this video 20 times and I love it.  Be careful, because there are several videos from the Crystal Light Aerobic Championship.  These can become a slippery slope of time suckage, but I'll admit, totally a pick me up if you're having a bad day.

We're here again.  That was fast.  The weeks seem to be flying by recently.  I'm excited that I have a birthday coming up... Monday is the day actually.  I share my birthdate with non other than Michael Jackson and Senator John McCain.  Random, I know. Anyway, I am heading into my last year of the 20s.  I haven't freaked out yet, but my 10 year high school reunion is in a few months and I have a feeling that will begin to make the picture more clear that we are actually aging.
Well, it's just faux fun Friday so here it is. Remember when I went to that amazing bakery and bought 4 massive cupcakes for myself? Well, I saved a picture to show you.

Take a look at these kicks!  And you might be thinking, 'Cute kid shoes,' but no.  This was an adult man!!!

Where does one even purchase something like this?  I should ask the Possessionista, since she seems to be able to find everything!

Just Faux Fun Friday

It's Friday again and I am so happy my husband is home for the weekend!  He's been working in London for the past 5 weeks and we have a few more to go before he's back for good, or for a while at least.
Just Faux Fun, why don't you do a little cooking this weekend.  Being partially from the south, I have come to LOVE some of the most unhealthy appetizers and food you can think of.  They may be bad, but they taste so good. If you haven't tried these, I suggest you throw yourself a little party and get to it! 

Captain Rodney's Cheese Dip - This one is relatively new to me and apparently very popular in Mississippi.  Cheese - yum. Bacon - yum. Ritz Crackers - yum.

Bunco Buns - I'm not sure that's what everyone calls these, but ham with melted Swiss cheese on a yummy roll, I suggest using Sister Schubert Yeast rolls = Delicious. 

Cake Batter Pancakes -  I haven't tried these, but they just look amazing. I might make them for myself on my Birthday. Ok, that sounded sad.

Bread Pudding - This has become one of my favorite desserts next to Bananas Foster (which we served at our wedding) and Creme Brulee. 

Now I'm hungry.

Time for another Just Faux Fun Friday.  I'd like to discuss apparel today.  I was at the Home Depot getting some paint and this was the lady in charge of mixing the paint.

Can we please get this lady a little help?  Stacey and Clinton are needed at this Home Depot ASAP.  

My Mom got me these PJ pants a few years ago, and the more I washed them the shorter they got.  She didn't believe me when I told her they were shrinking so I took a picture for her. 

It's a good look.  Then one day they disappeared.  I think my husband got tired of seeing me look ridiculous walking around the house in these.

Well, I guess this is going to be a thing now - Just Faux Fun Fridays - you can read past Faux Funs here and here.  Today I am traveling back to the TN for a weekend and to attend a baby shower for one of my very best friends.  In honor of that, let's talk about baby related gear. 


I got my friend a book called, Porn for New Moms. No, it's not actual porn.  It's more like this.

Being child free, there is a lot I don't know about babies, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.  But OMG are there a lot of products that really make me scared for the day I am pregnant. Like this: 

This is a nipple cover, to "relieve sore and cracked nipples to help minimize pain during breastfeeding."  Oh my, does it really get this bad that you may need a cover?  

Then there's this. 

 Here's the info. No it is not a tool belt. Many women experience wider hips after pregnancy. A. The fact that your hips can get bigger after pregnancy is depressing.

B. The thought of wearing something so constricting right after pushing a baby the size watermelon through something the size of a lemon sounds like the 7th circle of hell. I'll take the bigger hips.  

The amazing thing is, despite all the scary news about your body changing, and nipple chaffing, pop explosions, etc. I still can't wait to be a mom.

This is the lady who gives the traffic.  She say's things like "heavens to Besty."  What does that even mean? Until a couple months ago, she would report out of a shell of a car. She annoys me.

I love this clip of Marel the Shell.  The voice is so cute!!

This is the CUTEST child ever!  Lucy and her scarf.  I found it stalking around on people's blogs. It makes me want to go adopt a child tomorrow. I think you will love it. She's likes it kind of funky, you kow!

Just Faux Fun

Back in the 90s my Mom got into faux painting. You know, it involved a lot of sponges, crinkled paper and other items to make regular paint look fancy.  She was really good at it after perfecting her skill in several rooms of our house. After seeing our house, some friends contracted my Mom to do some work in their houses.  Being an entrepreneurial business woman, my Mom made business cards!  The name of her little business?  You guessed it, Just Faux Fun!

So with that back story, just faux fun, here are a few goodies I found online that are just that!
